Kent and Medway NHS and Social Care Partnership Trust (KMPT) approached us in 2021 to support their objective of reducing rates of obesity, prediabetes and type 2 diabetes in adults with autism and/or learning disabilities. The innovation was initially implemented in 5 care homes and supported patients, their carers’ and clinical and social care teams to prioritise care.
We were able to conduct clinician-supported focus groups to understand the needs of service users and support workers to design proactive and reactive functionality. This included the development of a library of proactive support strategies to grow and progress independent living skills working with people with medium and complex learning disabilities.
The output of the project was a completely voice-activated and voice-controlled service user environment to access the app via smartphone, smart speakers or on a tablet.
On average, service users demonstrate a 95% activation.
